The CH2M Des Moines office is seeking an energetic Roadway Engineer to join our team. Our Roadway Engineer jobs provide you with the opportunity to work on exciting and engaging infrastructure projects of varying size.
Each day, you will utilize your skills and contribute to work on transportation planning, design and construction in connection with complex, multi-disciplined projects. In this position you will be exposed to a wide-range of projects involving geometric roadway design, drainage design and studies, traffic control design, safety studies, transportation planning studies, preliminary and final design plan preparation, and 3D modeling. You will have the opportunity to utilize your knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures to complete your assigned tasks in a team environment. Our ideal candidate is a self-motivated professional with a BSCE with -up to 3 years or prior intern/co-op experience in roadway and drainage design. Certification as an engineer-in-training required. Effective verbal and written communication skills are important for client interaction and career advancement. Experience working with Microstation and Geopak is preferred, but experience with similar design software packages such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D is also valuable. You should have a desire to grow personally as well as professionally with each engineering job. Our Roadway Engineers: • Gain experience in various aspects of transportation planning and design • Assist in the preparation of project reports • Develop and produce conceptual, preliminary and final roadway design drawings • Prepare roadway plans, detail drawings, and project specifications • Review roadway plans, performing horizontal and vertical roadway alignment calculations and utility research and coordination • Perform quantity calculations and prepare construction specifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering • Up to 3 years of roadway design experience and/or prior intern/co-op experience working with a civil engineer • Working knowledge of Microstation and Geopak preferred • Working knowledge of Civil 3D desired • Working knowledge of MS Office products (Word, Excel) • Registered Engineer-in-training • Ability to communicate (verbal and written) effectively
