As a Transportation Systems Engineer, with a background in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and All Electronic Tolling Systems (AET), this is your chance to work with an energetic and collaborative team on complex transportation projects that focus on the planning and design of transportation systems management and operations, ITS, and toll facilities for expressways and urban arterials.
Working with other members of our team, you will have the opportunity to provide transportation systems engineering, planning and design expertise and manage project tasks, schedules, budgets and deliverables. During out time with us you will also have the opportunity to assist in the presentation of results to external clients and stakeholders. The candidate should be a self-motivated professional with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in civil or transportation engineering, or a related field and 8-12 years of experience in the transportation planning, design and operations field.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (desirable) in civil or transportation engineering • A minimum of 8-12 years of experience in the transportation systems engineering, planning, design and operations. • Required registration as a P.E. (or ability to acquire within six months if out of state). • Experience in a wide variety of transportation systems management and operations (TSMO) strategies – including active transportation and demand management – and supporting ITS technologies, including planning and design activities. • Required experience with developing design criteria, standards and specifications and the development of Technical Specifications and biddable contract package (PS&E). • Required experience with wireless (radio, cellular, Bluetooth etc.) and wireline (single-mode and multi-mode fiber, TWP) data communication network design, LAN and WAN concepts and digital communication packet switching. Development of network communication plans with MS Visio is preferred. • Demonstrated success leading and working in a team environment. • Excellent written, communication, and oral presentation skills. • Strong data analysis skills, technical problem solving skills, effective organizational skills, multitasking ability, and excellent computer skills with Microsoft Excel and Access
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:
• Experience in all aspects of the systems engineering process as it relates to ITS, including architecture, concept of operations, requirements, design, testing, and implementation oversight. • Proficient in the use of ProjectWise, CADD platform (Microstation and/or AutoCAD). • Experience using GuideSign, AutoTurn and MS Visio is preferred. • Understanding of toll system architecture is preferred. • Participate in project development (proposal writing/interview), development of technical approaches, budgeting/scheduling, and design lead and/or project management experience
