The CH2M New York office is seeking an energetic Civil/Site Engineer to join our team. Our Civil Engineers work on exciting and engaging transportation infrastructure projects. Each day, you will utilize your skills to advance complex, multi-disciplinary projects and programs. You will work in a fast-paced team environment on a wide range of highway engineering and planning project assignments. Our ideal candidate is a self-motivated professional, experienced in leading and mentoring civil engineering teams in developing conceptual, preliminary and/or final transportation design plans. Ideal candidates will possess a BSCE and 6-10 years of relevant experience and a solid understanding of roadway design principles.
Under general supervision, the individual competently performs all conventional aspects of design engineering and analysis.
Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
Support both office and field based activities, including technology assessments, writing specifications, evaluating vendors, design reviews, troubleshooting and problem resolution, testing support, and failure investigations.
Lead project task assignments.
Lead and mentor junior transportation staff and work closely with senior leadership.
Prepare technical studies and design documents.
Develop and produce conceptual, preliminary and final design drawings.
Review plans and engineering studies.
Communicate well when interacting with team members, clients and project stakeholders.
Coordinate with a wide range of technical disciplines.
Work with and learn from some of the industry’s brightest engineers, technicians and planners.
Minimum of 6 years civil engineering experience of transportation design, including roadway design, drainage design, traffic, utilities, permitting, ITS signing and pavement marking design, and quantity calculations.
Proven ability to work with a wide range of technical and non-technical staff.
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:
6 to 10 years of experience working on NYSDOT projects.
New York state PE preferred (or quick ability to attain).
Skilled in using Microstation and Geopak (or other design software) and Civil 3D.
Demonstrated attributes of initiative, resourcefulness, and positive attitude.
