The Global Transportation Manager is responsible for leading global transportation strategy and the successful execution of that strategy. Responsible for defining go to market strategy in collaboration with the Logistics Sourcing Manager, and developing partnerships with freight forwarders globally. The global transportation manager works with regional transportation managers to define visibility requirements for freight forwarders as well as for global metrics. The position manages 2 direct managers and 3 regional transportation managers (dotted line).
This position may require travel to global Rockwell Automation locations.
Major responsibilities Functional
Responsible for establishing the global transportation strategy for air, ocean and parcel freight
Works with Sourcing to define a go to market strategy for air, ocean and parcel freight
Works to develop partnerships with freight forwarders that promotes a clear understanding of their capabilities by region.
Partners with freight forwarders/industry experts to understand capacity conditions and pricing
Responsible for working with RTMs and connected supply chain team to define visibility requirements for shipments from pickup to delivery
Partners with RTMs to establish global metrics and sub metrics as well as BI/visibility tool for delivery of these metrics
Works with RTMs and global freight forwarder contacts on resolving systemic transportation service issues
Responsible for working with regional transportation managers (RTMs) to collect data for air, ocean and parcel bids
In conjunction with Sourcing, leads communication of bids to logistics directors with key attributes
Partners with RTMs and freight forwarders to meet overall delivery of service, quality and cost goals established on an annual basis.
Conducts global QBRs with freight forwarders
Partners with RTMs and freight forwarders to drive continuous improvement activities including process innovations and network optimization.
Manage the development of employees in effectively completing their responsibilities.
Provides supervision and leadership to 2 managers and 3 RTMs.
Displays an understanding of end to end processes from order to delivery to the customers.
By applying functional experience, identifies ideas with other functional leaders, employees and customers to create and influence opportunities for quality improvement throughout the organization.
Instills a sense of urgency and drives problems towards resolution. Monitors the progress of others and redirects efforts.

Manages key departmental expenses to meet budget.
