Information on the Department:
The Threshold Program at Lesley University is a college-based, comprehensive postsecondary program for highly motivated young adults with learning challenges, intellectual/developmental disabilities, or other special needs. Threshold supports its students in achieving maximum independence through employment education and internships, residence life, academic instruction, and social programming. Students access campus clubs, activities, resources, and facilities, and participate in student life. Threshold graduates may continue accessing support through the Alumni Center, which provides employment services, independent living case management, and social and leisure opportunities.
Lesley University's renowned Threshold program seeks to add an Enrollment Counselor and Clinical Specialist to join its dynamic team. Reporting to the Director of Threshold, the Enrollment Counselor and Clinical Specialist provides wide-ranging service, guidance, and support to prospective and current students and families in the Threshold program. The Counselor serves multiple constituencies across the Threshold program to support student enrollment success from pre-application to alumni service. Job duties include:
Clinical Liaison and Supervision
Collaborate with the Clinical Consultant on case management and follow-up referral
Coordinate the supervision of the clinical interns
Directly supervise Social Work interns
Participate actively in weekly faculty and administrative team meetings regarding student clinical needs.
Collaborate with the Alumni Center to coordinate clinical support needs for Alumni
Maintain a database of clinicians who work with the Threshold population and their insurance plans
Provide outstanding student and family support as part of a professional team to recruit, admit, and retain Threshold students toward program completion and independence
Participate in student retention and success planning activities working with the members of the Administrative Team (esp. the Director of Residence Life)
Support the needs of students in the program, liaison with families as supervised by the Director
Participate in the development of Summer Initiatives
Work with the Alumni Center to engage alumni in support of core program enrollment retention and success
Serve as part of Admissions team to recommend students for admission to Threshold and facilitate their enrollment:
Evaluate diagnostic testing, conduct interviews, and review application materials
Respond to inquiries about goodness of fit, conduct informational interviews, participate with other Threshold staff in open houses
Represent the program at transition fairs, school district events, and conferences locally and regionally
Assume additional enrollment and student service responsibilities as program needs evolve
Master's degree in social work, mental health counseling, special education, or a related field.
At least 5 years of experience in an educational or clinical setting serving students with special needs as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Experience evaluating and analyzing psycho-educational testing
Excellent oral and written communication skills including evidence of strong skills with diplomacy, empathy, and communication with parents.
Demonstrated background of strong follow-through, responsiveness, and attention to detail.
Experience supporting families of students with special needs in navigating transitions, developing support systems and monitoring student progress.
Professional licensure or eligibility for professional licensure in social work, mental health counseling, or education.
Must be authorized to work in the United States; if you hold a visa, your visa status must allow you to work at Lesley University.
Master's degree in social work.
LCSW, LICSW or LMHC licensure.
Experience supervising clinical interns.
Salary Grade 26: $60,170 - $71,602
